What a Wonderful World

I'm back.

Thank you loyal readers for your patience!

September seemed to be a lost month.

The move to Ft. Lee was disorienting and I wasn't feeling well.  The reason turned out to be caused by spinal meningitis which put me in the Englewood Hospital for ten days.

Thanks to a terrific group of doctors and nurses, and family and friends that were WAY over the top, I'm mostly better now and improving.  I'm happily settled back into 5B.

My spirits have since been lifted by several Loon related events.

First, as you can see below, the cover is completed!

The image is of me on a patrol.  The background is my field map of Gio Linh, Vietnam.  If your eyes surpass mine, you'll note the North Vietnamese border above my head, and several circled mortar targets.

These details will be more apparent on the cover of the actual book which is now available pre-order from Amazon.com.  The link follows:

Thank you for visiting

Jack

Big stuff, John. And wonderful for so many to see what you have accomplished. For you, us and them. Congratulations!...as though that word could actually come near the emotion we all feel for you.

So now, of course, the sequel?

The sequel: 14 years after returning from Vietnam, your most wonderful daughter arrived in the world to turn the second half of your life upside down in much different ways. Congratulations on the cover, Dad!

Well done, brother! I've ordered two hardback copies from Amazon. I'm determined to one day have the author affix his signature to them...one of which will go to my mother, ever thankful that you pulled the strings that you did in April '68 to allow me to have a future.

I, too, remain forever grateful for our chance meeting in early December of '67 on the edge of that bomb crater hard by the DMZ. Who knew that 41 years later we'd be celebrating your hard copy narrative of our story...and yours? Phenomenal!
